Celebrating Curiosity and Commitment to Education
At Blue Umbrella Waterproofing & Foundations, we’re proud to to share the three 2024 recipients of Blue Umbrella Scholarship Fund. Each year, the fund provides $1,500 in scholarships—divided into $500 awards for three outstanding students—as a way to invest in those embarking on their journey into higher education.
Our company is powered by a team that values continual improvement. Whether learning the latest techniques in basement waterproofing or staying ahead in foundation repair innovation, our crew’s passion for knowledge is what sets us apart. That same commitment to growth inspired us to create a scholarship that supports young people who show a similar drive to learn and achieve.
This year, we’re thrilled to recognize Kayla Makhoul, Bhavya Mamnani, Irene Lee—three students who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their studies and a clear passion for learning. Congratulations to all three on earning 2024’s scholarship!
Kayla Makhoul
Kayla is an undergraduate student studying business management at Rider University. Motivated by a passion for design and entrepreneurship, she plans to one day launch her own design firm focused on making beautiful, high-quality spaces accessible to people of all budgets.
By gaining skills in finance, marketing, and management, Kayla hopes to build a company that delivers affordable yet stylish design solutions. Her long-term goal is to redefine how people view design—proving that creativity, quality, and inclusivity can go hand in hand.
Bhavya Mamnani
Bhavya is an undergraduate student studying mechanical engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Her interest in sustainable energy began with family conversations about green hydrogen and grew through research into emerging technologies like Namibia’s $10B hydrogen project.
She hopes to develop innovative materials that support renewable energy systems, such as lightweight components for electric vehicles and efficient energy storage solutions. Bhavya is committed to lifelong learning and aims to help build a more sustainable future through engineering and ongoing discovery.
Irene Lee
Irene is an undergraduate student studying civil engineering at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Inspired by her family’s strong recycling habits and her own sustainability efforts at home and school, Irene developed a passion for improving waste management systems.
She hopes to combine engineering and environmentalism to design smarter recycling and composting infrastructure in public spaces. Irene aims to create solutions that reduce waste, promote sustainability, and make cities like New York greener and more efficient for future generations.
Congratulations to Kayla, Bhavya, and Irene—we wish you all the best as you continue your educational journey! We also want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who applied for this year’s scholarship.
We encourage all students to apply for the 2025 scholarship. The application deadline is June 15, 2025.
